At the beginning of 2014, I made a New Year’s resolution to start doing just that…I wanted to be able to participate in a 5K or two with my husband. Sure, at the end of the year, looking back, I did all of those – I started running and I ran a few 5Ks with my husband. But, did it make sense to make a “resolution”? What is a resolution anyways?
I needed to set goals for myself. Realistic goals, that is.
When 2015 started, I decided I wasn’t going to make a list of resolutions because they were too cliché. Instead, I made a list of GOALS I knew I could accomplish by the year’s end! I didn’t tell anyone what they were until every single item was checked off.
All year long I worked tirelessly to complete them all:
✔ teach myself to knit (but I could never give up crocheting)
✔ read more books (I’ve read at least 20!)
✔ run at least 4 5Ks (I even ran 2 in one day 😳)
✔ run a half marathon (2015 has 2 in the books)
When you set and accomplish reachable goals, that is when you truly become successful. BUT don’t be surprised when life throws a few exciting times in the mix either…like making a childhood Disney dream come true, rekindling an old friendship, a puppy, and a new house!
I can only hope that 2016 is as successful as 2015. Prayers for love, happiness, courage, and strength during this new year!
